Amparo Jelsma
Themes frequently explored in my work are nature, landscape, solitude, quiet meditation, minimalism, and wabi-sabi. I have always had a close affinity to birds, clouds, and music thus they often appear in my art either literally or symbolically. The quality of stillness in my work developed as a means to find refuge from city life. Simplicity is celebrated here.

My art is a spiritual practice where I find a calm center. I am immersed in the contemplation of what I find to be beautiful, frail, and ephemeral in this world. Insight is gained through the process and imagery about the struggles and joys throughout the life cycles. While engaged in the flow of working with color, texture, and symbols, I feel closer to nature and the Source. Peace is found.
